Sketchy PS5 leak teases astern compatibility for PS2, PS3 and PS4

A new retailer list suggests that the PS5 will be backwards compatible with all PS4, PS3 and PS2 games. But you should take this with a massive grain of salt.

This surprising claim is sourced from Turkish online retailer Hepsiburada (via our sister site Laptop Mag). On its page for the PS5, it fabricated the assuming argument that the new Sony console would exist backwards uniform all the fashion dorsum to the PS2. This is non something Sony has mentioned near the PS5 so far, with it just claiming its adjacent-generation console volition run PS4 games.

Existence able to play xx years of games all on i console would be quite the selling point for Sony. Fifty-fifty the Xbox Series Ten is but promising guaranteed backwards compatibility with the Xbox 1, and sure Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles.

However, this leak is about certainly not correct. Non only has Sony openly said the PS5 is aiming for backwards compatibility with 100 popular PS4 titles at launch, just the Hepsiburada folio has at present removed the passage from its page making this claim. You can however meet what it said thanks to a screenshot fastened to a NeoGAF post by user CurtBizzy if you're curious.

In the unlikely consequence that information technology kept this astonishing compatibility feature quiet, Sony would likely tell us all about it at one of its planned events over the summertime. Both information technology and Microsoft are spreading out the news of their next-gen plans, with Xbox having already shown trailers off for a lot of its third-party launch titles.
